| "Doin' what comes naturally." |
|
| Your mind and body already knows how to put a roll on a ball that is more effective than the best professional putting conventionaly! |
|
If you where to line up all of the players on the US Tour ( or any Golfer on the planet for that matter ) and you gave them the task of getting the ball in the hole from say 30 feet away
| ( but with no stick of any kind in their hand) ...... I guarantee you every single one of them would face the hole and roll the ball using an underarm action while looking at the hole.......... not one of them would turn away at right angles, memorize where the hole is, then look down at their toes while trying to roll the ball at the hole with a 2 hand, underarm action. |

THE MOST IMPORTANT DRILL FOR PUTTING SIDESADDLE
Before you ever start to putt sidesaddle, it is important to execute this simple drill for at least a half hour.
Get out your shag bag or fill your pockets balls and get on a putting green at least 30 to 50 feet away from a hole.
Without any thought about putting and while making sure you are positioned the way it feels most natural for you, toss balls one at a time underhand toward your target in an effort to get them as close as possible. Don't be afraid to fool aroumd a while until you find the most comfortable and effective setup.
You will accomplishing a number of things when you do this:
1. You will be ingraining your only swing thought for sidesaddle... (Tossing the mid grip as though it were a ball with focus in the fingers.)
2. You will find your natural setup by observing how you finally position yourself during this drill... (Foot position, bend at the waist, bend in the elbow, lean to the ball side, etc.) This will dictate your own, most effective stance for sidesaddle.
3. Observe the distance from the ground your hand is at the bottom of the toss... (This will tell you where the mid grip should be positioned on the shaft.)
4. Although not as critical... while in your ball tossing stance, place your other arm across your body with the forearm at a right angle to the upper arm and the hand in a fist with the knuckles facing the target line. (The distance from the ground to your thumb less about 1 inch... depending on the putter head and hosel type... will give you your shaft length.)
You should do the ball tossing drill often and before every round to reinforce your feel for the sidesaddle stroke and swing thought on lag putts. (On shorter putts... inside 5 feet for most. You'll find your own comfort zone for this.) Place the putter head an inch or two behind the ball, take a shorter back swing, "pop" the ball and follow it with the putter head.)

| "Inhale just before you take the putter back and continue to exhale normally throughout the stroke." This technique is well known in all sports to relax tension in the muscles and helps keep your mind calm so it won't interfere during execution." |
|
| Remember... it is not USGA legal to make a putt while standing on, astride or directly behind your line of putt while on the putting surface. |
|
| hit it where you're looking with a tossing motion as if you had the ball in your fingers. |
